Troop Leadership

Our troop is led by a team of volunteers. A Troop Committee provides overall supervision of the ministry and its operations. Of special note is the team of Trail Guides overseen by the Troopmaster, who provide the delivery of the program itself to the member boys.

Troop Committee

The Troop Committee is a team of troop leaders with responsibilities for particular aspects of the ministry, its operations, and its program. The Committee includes both the Core Committee and other volunteers serving in Committee roles.

Erich Fabricius Troop Committee Chair

As Committee Chair, Erich Fabricius provides overall supervision of the operations of the ministry. His family has been involved in the troop since 2015, and he has been part of Shepherd’s since 2008.

David Sakell Troopmaster

As Troopmaster, David Sakell is responsible for the implementation of all youth-focused activities, and leads the team of Trail Guides who deliver the ministry program to the boys. His family has been involved since the early days of the troop.

Peter Andersen Troop Chaplain

As Troop Chaplain, Peter Andersen helps us maintain our faith-building focus. He leads a periodic study with our Navigators and Adventurers, and is a primary author of our Woodlands Trail Devotionals. He has been involved in our troop since 2016.

Kevin Welch Troop Ministry Liasion

As Troop Ministry Liasion, Kevin Welch exercises authority on behalf of the church as relates to the relationship with the Trail Life ministry. He serves as an Elder at the Shepherd’s Church and is the church’s Chief Administrative Officer. His family has been part of our troop since 2017.

Nathan Cooksey Troop Secretary

As Troop Secretary, Nathan Cooksey supervises the troop's record-keeping process, is involved with advancement records, and oversees receiving and distribution of items during troop meeting times. He has been involved with our troop since 2021.

Troopmaster and Trail Guides

The Trail Guides are the primary direct youth-contact leaders who advise, coach, and mentor the boys at the various levels.

David Sakell Troopmaster

Nick Jones Advisor

As Advisor, Nick Jones works with our high school age Adventurers, providing advice and adult guidance as the youth leaders undertake that program. His family has been a part of the troop since our early days.

Paul VanSweden Trailmaster

As Trailmaster, Paul VanSweden provides leadership and guidance to our unit of middle school aged Navigators. His family has been a part of the troop since our early days.
